                 Valentine's Day

story

There is a history that a Roman Emperor Claudius II put to death two men, both named Valentine on Feb 14 of different years. Pope Gelasius I started a tradition of celebrating Valentine’s day in AD 496. He established a tradition of the feast in the memory of the martyrs Saint Valentines who died on that day over 200 years ago

Valentine’s Day is mainly celebrated in the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, France, Australia, Denmark and Italy. Many people in these countries purchase gifts for their friends, family and pets. There is a good contribution of the Day in the economy of the countries. There is a contribution of about US $ 23.90 billion in the US in 2021 with the sale of flowers, jewellery, chocolates and cards. In 1868, the British Chocolate company, Cadbury, lunched Fancy Boxes filled with chocolates in the heart shape

Definitely Valentine’s Day is good and holy in itself. But should not we think? ”Does the Valentine’s Day celebration suits our culture or not? Nobody is there to take care of

There is a ban to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan and in Belgorod region of Russia. These countries believe that it kills their cultures rapidly. Malaysia imposed ban on Valentine’s Day from 2005. The country blames the holiday and believes that it link negative ills that can invite disaster and moral decay among the youths. The country even organizes an annual anti-Valentine’s day Campaign to reinforce the view

Valentine’s Day, in my opinion, is just a chance for companies to take advantages of you and your society. There is tons of pressure to spend money on cards, gifts, flowers and candy. Valentine’s Day encourages competition, which is definitely not good for anyone. It encourages negatively and turns a relationship into a competition

It is a super anti-single day for no reason. It is a constant reminder that you are alone. It can make many people depressed. Is there any sense in making a single feel bad by broadcasting and bouncing the celebration in public? I think “definitely not”

It also put a lot of pressure on many people who celebrate and are in favor of the day. The thought of not getting expensive gift is a kind of pressures on many

In essence, the Valentine’s Day brings bad feeling in the hearts of many. We have in Nepal many celebrations in our own culture. It brings purity in the heart of all. Everybody can celebrate them together. Everybody is happy. It brings people together. We should love our culture. Is not it?
