About 5 months ago, US Food & Drug Administration gave permission to give the third dose of Coovid19 vaccine to the certain group of people only on the basis of health condition of the individuals. The agency allowed the third dose of vaccine to a certain immune-compromised group of individuals only, like those who are the recipients of major organs (kidney transplant, lever transplant, major heart surgery, etc). Such groups of people are especially vulnerable to infectious diseases, including Covid19.


World Health Organization say in a recommendation that people over 60 years of age who have received the primary two doses of vaccine can also be given the third dose to help boost immunity in the individuals. Such third dose is also known as booster dose

Another question that is raised every now and then is that whether one must take all the doses including the booster dose of the same company or can one mixed the doses of different company? An individual who has taken Covi-shield in the first, can he/she could take the second or booster dose of Verosel or any other or not? More research is being done to understand the query better for future recommendation


Research has revealed one vital finding that a regular physical exercise is a very important booster of the immunity than the booster dose itself except those who have a specific health condition. Walking and cycling are simple and is considered cost effective ways of being active


A study says that “Exercise boosts immunity and makes vaccine more effective” Another study says that “Meeting the recommended guidelines for physical activity reduces the risk of falling ill and dying of infectious disease by 37%”


There has been another 6 studies in Europe involving more than a half million participants reveals a similar results that the group of people meeting the recommended guidelines for physical activities – 30 minutes of activity, five days a week- reduces the risk of falling ill and dying of infectious disease by 37%.

In a another study carried out in US involving 48,440 adult patients reveals that thhe patient who were consistently inactive had a greater risk of hospitalization, admission to ICU and death than those patients who were consistently active and were following the guidelines of physical activity


From the above studies, it is revealed and concluded that those who were consistently meeting the physical activity guidelines were strongly associated with a reduced risk of severe Covid19

Omicron Variant – Is it a signal of beginning to an END of the Pandemic

“The combination of high transmissibility and mild infection in Omicron variant might be a signal of the beginning of the end of pandemic” Said Monica Gandhi, an immunologist at the University of California. She hopes that this variant creates profound immunity in the population and it will hopefully end the pandemic.


Omicron variant appeared first in South Africa about one and half month ago. Covid infection normally starts in the nose, then spread in throat and then down to respiratory tract and further down to lungs.


Several studies in Europe and America tell that Omicron variant is less severe in comparison to its previous variants. It does not infect the lungs easily like previous ones. Because of changes in the spike protein, Omicron likes of infect upper respiratory tract (URT) than the lungs. It multiplies in the URT and could spread more easily.


Let us hope this phase will end the Pandemic from this world for ever. Thanks !!!
